Let's catch up...

Decided to get a blog to keep everyone up to date, but I feel like our story needs to start with our wedding, so in order to catch everyone up on what’s been happening with the Schwanbecks since October 17, 2009, here goes…

Our wedding was outstanding, and the best day of my life so far (I know, it’s cliché, but SO TRUE)!  We had tons of friends and family, impeccable weather, and good barbeque and beer.  It was truly the perfect day!

We honeymooned in St. Lucia at this amazing resort called Windjammer Landing. Brent was so diligent in his honeymoon planning and found the most beautiful spot on the northern part of the island.   We planned plenty of excursions for our 7 day visit (zip lining, visiting volcanoes, etc.), but after a few days out on the island all we wanted to do was stay on the beach.  We even got up early on the last day so we could have a few more hours on the beach before we had to check out.  SO AWESOME!

After returning home, we churned through all the wonderful wedding gifts everyone so lovingly gave us!  We are such slackers though… still working on those thank you notes. Eek!  We went through the holidays, Halloween, Thanksgiving with the Askins, Christmas with the Schwanbecks, New Years, Super Bowl (yes, it’s a holiday around our house) and Valentine’s Day.

In March, Brent officially starting testing with different fire departments all over the state.  We have been travelling quite a bit for these tests, and Brent is studying so HARD all the time!  We’ve had some luck though and hopefully one of these cities will pan out! God Provides!

At the beginning of April, we bought Brent a new ride – used, but new to him.  He is totally in love with it, but we were both sad to see Ole’ Smokey go… sort of.

At the end of April, we moved out of our apartment and dared to do what most newlyweds won’t even think about… we moved in with my mom.  It’s working out well though.  Brent has his flat screen TV and recliner in the upstairs guest bedroom and we eat really well.  The drive is longer, the house is full of animals (5 cats and 2 dogs), and we are a little cramped for space since Samantha also lives at home.  All in all though, it’s good. We aren’t tied down to a lease, we are saving money, and whenever Brent gets the call to go work for such and such Fire Department, we can pick up and go!

We’ve been married now for over 8 months and love each other more every day! I think we’ve each gained 1 pound for each month we’ve been married (we’re noticing now that it’s summer and we are supposed to be swimsuit ready). More to love, right?  That being said, the 2 of us are settled in our routine – the longer drive to Katy, etc. – and we are going to get back into shape! I am going to train for a 5K and Brent is training for his Physical Agility Testing for the fire departments.  Stay tuned for more!
