House Hunting and Poor Watson

Brent and I recently decided to begin looking for a home.  We found one house that fit us perfectly - well sort of.  It was in Colleyville, which we love, had an updated kitchen, and was on a half acre.  Wow.  It was a little small though and we would have had to add on to the house, so we looked at a handful of other houses.  None of them struck our fancy quite like the Colleyville house, so we prayed about what we should do. We both felt like God was telling us to wait, so we put our search on hold and worked to figure out how much more money we could save up by waiting.

It was a really good thing we waited - God works in amazing ways.  A week or so after deciding to wait, we came home from a trip to College Station to find that something was wrong with Watson, our lovely canine companion.  He was walking funny, acting calm (which is quite abnormal for him) and his stomach was bloated.  I was worried, but didn't want to freak out and rush him to the vet for a non-emergency, so I did research online first.  Everything I found pointed to Bloat, which is a very serious and deadly condition in dogs.

We rushed him to the vet (thank goodness they are open on Sunday) and they squeezed him in.  After an X-ray revealed that he was suffering from bloat (his poor stomach was pressing on his lungs, intestines, and spleen and it was HUGE), they told us they were going to try to pump his stomach to relieve the bloating, and that they would keep him over night. We left and didn't get a call until 6pm, when the vet's office told us Watson's stomach flipped (think, Marley & Me ailment) before they could pump his stomach, so they had to perform emergency surgery to save him.

Watson was A-OK, and bounced back like a champ.  The one thing that didn't survive the incident with flying colors was our bank account.  Luckily, we hadn't decided to buy a house, so we had plenty of spare change (ha, the vet bill was anything but spare change).

We are all ok, Watson is back to normal, and after a 1 month break from house hunting, we are hitting the streets again in search for the perfect home for us. The original house (the one in Colleyville) is no longer available, but that just means God did not want us there... looking forward to seeing what He has in store for us!
