the. boone.

It has been so long since I've had a blog entry - a little over 2 months, to be exact. Being a mommy is just the slightest bit time consuming, and abundantly full of awesome!

Most everyone we know already is aware of all of this, but I feel the need to chronicle it, regardless; so, here we go...

Our Blessing.
Boone David Schwanbeck was born on June 21, 2012 at 5:33am. He weighed in at 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and measured 19 and 3/4 inches.

Mommy labored for a LONG time.  We were induced at around 6:30am on June 20th, and after 23 hours of labor, 13 of which were without an epidural (go, Mom), Boone came via Cesarean-section at 5:33am the next day.
Mommy in the delivery room. Still all smiles (taken before cameras and visitors were banned).

This little face was worth the wait and hard work.

Boone immediately after delivery and a quick clean up.

Mommy and Daddy were beaming.

At home, alert as can be.
Our little guy has been a lot of hard work, but the biggest blessing we could have ever imagined... actually, well beyond our imagination. God is good! Psalm 23:1-6

What's in a Name.
Many people have asked us if Boone is a family name.  No, actually, it is not.  We thought long and hard about what to name our baby boy and had a few requirements: 1) it had to start with a "B", 2) it had to be a unique, distinct name, and 3) it had to be a strong, manly name.  We chose Boone because we liked the meaning, good or a blessing, the American historical figure for which the name is best known, Daniel Boone, and the pure wildness and strength the name conveys.
